Korean Food

The Korean cuisine*, also known as "Hansik" (한식) has greatly increased in popularity among other cultures for its less meaty dishes and healthier style. Korean food involves many fermented dishes, as well as vegetables, and the main dish of steamed short-grained rice.

In an average Korean meal, each person would receive individual bowls with boiled rice and soup (guk), but the rest of the table would consist of an assortment of side dishes that everyone shares. One essential side dish, kimchi, is present at every meal. (Because of the Korean Wave, kimchi is just one of many Korean dishes that are becoming popular world-wide.)

Below are some other very well known Korean dishes.

Bulgogi: Marinated beef
Bibimbap: a rice dish mixed with several side dishes, mostly vegetables, sometimes including meat
Hanjeongsik: a full-course Korean meal
